GEELONG Falcons have continued their climb out of the NAB League Boys cellar with a 22-point win over Gippsland Power at Morwell on Sunday afternoon.

It was the Falcons third consecutive victory, following wins over fellow regional teams GWV Rebels and Bendigo Pioneers, since the resumption of the season.

It also marked the first time they had strung three consecutive wins together since going unbeaten in nine matches on their way to the 2017 TAC Cup premiership.

“I spoke to the boys after the game and said the last four-week block we’ve put together has been really impressive,” coach Paul Corrigan.

“Although today’s game was a bit scrappy and wasn’t the best spectacle, sometimes games are going to be ugly and not be the way you want them to be.

“Earlier in the year, we might have lost that game. But, I never felt today that we would lose that game; we were always in control.”

Noah Gasby and Jhye Clark impressed for the Falcons, while forward Euriah Hollard kicked a game-high three goals.

“He looked really lively again today, and he hit the scoreboard with three goals,” Corrigan said.

“And some of his defensive acts were really impressive also.”

The Falcons were forced into two late changes, with Blake Reid called up for VFL duty with the GWS Giants and Ted Clohesy missing through injury.

Josh Sorgiovanni was forced from the ground early in the match with a knee issue.

The Falcons will have the bye next weekend before travelling to Craigieburn on July 3 for a meeting with the Calder Cannons.
