BELL Park coach Shane Jack will extend his tenure at Hamlyn Park into a third season after signing a one-year contract extension.

The Dragons have confirmed the new deal with the former Ocean Grove grand final coach on social media.

As a club, we are extremely grateful to Shane for believing in the direction the club is heading,” president Brett Campigli wrote on Facebook.

“We are looking forward to getting back to work with Shane for the remainder of the season and beyond.”

Bell Park is well placed to return to the finals for the first time since 2017 if the season resumes.

The Dragons sit fourth on the ladder with a 6-3 win-loss record after handing Grovedale a 160-point hiding in the round before the latest COVID shutdown.

They still face crucial match-ups against St Joseph’s, Newtown & Chilwell and South Barwon.

“Earlier this week, Shane put out the call to all our players to be ready to go, as it can turn around quickly, and they’ll soon be back playing.

“Whilst looking out for themselves and their families is forefront, it is imperative they are on top of their fitness and game ready to jump straight back in.

“We know that we are in expert and accomplished hands returning back into the season after this pause and look forward to watching the boys play under Shane’s guidance and leadership, now and into season 2022.”

Jack’s re-signing leaves only Newtown & Chilwell’s Damien McMahon, St Albans’ Ben Patrick, and St Joseph’s Paul Carson out-of-contract for next year.
