THOMSON has landed a coaching coup with the signing of the highly-decorated Paul Lynch.

The Tigers have confirmed Lynch will take on the role vacated by Jarrod Westwood and Sam Jacka at the end of the GDFL season.

The former Geelong forward is one of only three coaches to guide two GFL clubs to premiership success, leading Lara to its most recent flag in 2002 and Colac to its lone title since arriving from the Hampden League 20 years ago in 2014.

Lynch coached BFL clubs Ocean Grove and Portarlington. He is also a premiership coach in the Colac and District League with Birregurra.

Current Tigers Brent Macleod, Andrew Javis, Jahd Anderson and Pete Hardy all played under Lynch at the Grubbers.

Most recently, he has filled the director of coaching role at Leopold.

After four consecutive finals appearances under Reece Holwell and Brent Taylor, including a premiership win in 2018, Thomson finished seventh this year with a 6-6 win-loss record.

Lynch’s appointment leaves BFL club Queenscliff and GDFL duo Bannockburn and North Geelong as the three clubs yet to lock away a leader for 2022.

More to come.
