INVERLEIGH star Matt Tyquin and Hawks playing coach Adam Donohue are expected to battle out Monday night’s Whitley Medal, according to the GDFL’s coaching cohort.

Tyquin, who joined Inverleigh from archrival Bannockburn after helping the Tigers to the 2019 premiership, has received the backing of four coaches, including Donohue.

While Donohue, who won the league goal-kicking award, has the support of three of his counterparts.

Recently-appointed Bannockburn co-coach Jack Brauman is the only other player to receive backing from multiple coaches.

The most popular roughie is Geelong West forward Alex Blair, who finished third behind Donohue and Belmont Lions sharpshooter Brent Jacques on the goalkicking table.

The Whitley Medal will be awarded as part of a combined online presentation night with the GDFL’s netball section.
