BARWON Heads stunning run of off-season additions has continued with the return to Howard Harmer Oval of Jake Barlow and Sam Harris.

And in a further boost for the reigning BFL premier, Barlow is a one-point player.

Barlow, who played 29 games and kicked 39 goals for the Seagulls across 2012-13, played in three premierships for Bell Post Hill and was best-on-ground in the 2015 grand final.

He most recently played with Colac and District League club Apollo Bay.

“He’s still got a good group of mates at Barwon Heads, he’s just got married, and he and his wife are living in Ocean Grove,” Barwon Heads football boss Brendan Curry said.

“He didn’t want to travel; he’s just got a new job, so I think playing at Barwon Heads was a good fit for him.

“He’s pretty excited about returning home.”

However, the 27-year-old isn’t likely to feature in the Seagulls’ senior line-up until well into the 2021 season.

He will spend the next four weeks on his honeymoon before returning to training.

“We want him to be aspiring to play senior footy, and the ball will be in his court,” Curry said.

“Troy (Mitchell) and ‘Herbie’ (Mitch Herbison) know him, and they want to encourage him and see if they can get the best out of him.”

Harris, who suffered a knee injury in his most recent match for the Seagulls in late 2018, has spent time playing in Perth.

Curry said they only found out in mid-February that he was returning to the region.

“He’s a very, very promising key position player,” Curry said. “Unfortunately, over the last few years,  he’s had two knee recos.

“He deserves a bit of luck.

“He’s a very talented player, and we’re very excited about having him back playing at Barwon Heads.”

Harris and Barlow join previously announced recruits Sam Allen (Uni Blues), Nathan Brown (St Kilda), Harry Graham (Marong), Maddison Hardiman (Monash Blues),  Matthew Knox (Macedon), Will Paulin (Nirranda), Lee Spiteri (Altona), Zac Urquhart (North Warrnambool) and Lachlan Wilson (Lilydale).

The Seagulls play the first of three practice matches against GFL club South Barwon at Oakdene Estate Oval on Wednesday night.

It starts its premiership defence on Easter Saturday (April 3) against Drysdale at Howard Harmer Oval.
