OCEAN Grove’s ‘Baby Grubbers’ will play finals in 2021 after ending Drysdale’s top-five hopes with a 21-point win at Mortimer Oval on Saturday.

The victory, Ocean Grove’s eighth of the season, has it two games clear of the sixth-placed Hawks and almost certainly guarantees a meeting with Round 18 opponent Anglesea in an elimination final.

“We’re pretty excited,” Davey told The Wash-up podcast.

“It was great going back to the club last night, and we had 50 people in the rooms watching the game.

“It was really nice to go back there and see what it mean to them.”

Davey joked he might see if he can get a gentleman’s agreement with Anglesea coach Paul Nigro not to play next week and go straight into their finals clash.

“If I could chat to Paul and maybe see where his head’s at,” Davey said. “It’s going to be a bizarre one.

“I actually haven’t thought too much about and what we’d do.

“He won’t show too much, we won’t show too much, and hopefully no one gets hurt.”
