GEELONG has revealed the re-signing of 16 players for the 2022 AFLW season; however, Denby Taylor isn’t among them.

The Cats have confirmed that the 21-year-old defender won’t add to her 18 games in the 2022 season as she takes a break from the game.

Taylor, who was best-on-ground in the Geelong Falcons’ 2018 TAC Cup premiership win, will be placed on the inactive list.

Reigning best-and-fairest Amy McDonald and captain Meg McDonald are among seven current players to sign contract extensions that will see them in the Hoops until at least the end of 2023.

Sophie Van de Heuvel and Rebecca Webster have also added a year to their current deals, while Olivia Barber, Jordan Ivey and Georgie Rankin have signed new two-year deals.

Nine players have signed one-year contract extensions; Rene Caris, Georgia Clarke, Laura Gardiner, Renee Garing, Madi Maguire, Maddy McMahon, Phoebe McWilliams, Darcy Moloney and Carly Remmos.

Dani Higgins, Julia Crockett-Grills, Nina Morrison, Millie Brown, Stephanie Williams and Maddy Keryk already have deals for 2022.

As part of the AFL’s assistance package for Geelong, the club can sign two state league players before it takes four picks to next month’s draft; 2, 7, 9 and 20
