TALKS on a contract extension for Chris Scott won’t start until CEO-in-waiting Steve Hocking has his feet under the desk in October.

President Craig Drummond has told K rock Football despite Collingwood parting company with Nathan Buckley, and Hawthorn mentor Alistair Clarkson going on the market at the end of the next year, the Cats won’t be rushed.

Scott, who took over ahead of the 2011 season and has guided Geelong to the finals every year bar 2015, is signed until the conclusion of 2022.

“There is nothing urgent about the negotiation, and I’d expect Steve Hocking will have a good say in that,” Drummond said.

“A fair bit of water to pass under the bridge, but I think the club is very much indebted, and members should be indebted, to the work that Chris has (done) and continues to do.

“We’re a great fan.”
