GEELONG will welcome back exciting forward Gary Rohan for Sunday’s clash with Richmond at the MCG.

Rohan missed the win over Fremantle after suffering a corked quad.

The 30-year-old, who has kicked 25 goals in 2021, needs just one more major for his best return in a season.

“He’s trained fully this week and will be available,” Cats football boss Simon Lloyd said.

Sam Simpson and Jordan Clark both made strong returns from injury in the VFL win over Williamstown on July 10.

Simpson played his first game at any level since suffering a hamstring injury in the AFL win over Richmond on May 7.

He then suffered an issue with his quad, which extended his stint on the sidelines.

“Sam got through the game well, and his agility and speed gave a positive outlook,” Lloyd said.

“Now for Sam, it will be about putting a block of games together and increasing his game time going forward.”

Clark returned from an AC joint injury sustained in the VFL clash with the Brisbane Lions on June 25 against the Seagulls.

“He performed well against Williamstown; he was strong around and inside the contest. He received a couple of heavy hits and pulled up really well,” Lloyd said.

“With no VFL played last weekend, he’s trained strongly over the weekend.”

Lloyd confirmed Stefan Okunbor suffered a calf injury against Williamstown, while Cam Taheny is recovering from another hamstring issue.

He also says Cooper Stephens is making “excellent progress” nine weeks on from ankle surgery.
