PATRICK Dangerfield is now in elite company after earning his eighth All-Australian selection.

The Geelong superstar was named captain after being selected at half-forward in this year’s team.

He joins Gary Ablett Senior and Junior, Lance Franklin, Mark Ricciuto and Robert Harvey as those to be recognised eight times in the AFL area.

Dangerfield was one of three Cats named in the 2020 All-Australian team, joining Coleman medallist Tom Hawkins, who was named for the third time, and first-time selection Cam Guthrie.

He has been an All-Australian every season he has been at the Cats since arriving at Kardinia Park in 2016.

Hawkins was previously selected in 2012 and 2019.

Sam Menegola and Mark Blicavs were the two Cats named in the 40-man squad who missed the final team.
