Cats cut Schlensog

THE list cull at Geelong has commenced, with rookie big man Blake Schlensog delisted.

The 20-year-old Category B rookie has taken to social media to confirm he has been let go.

“What a journey it’s been playing footy @geelongcats,” Schlensog wrote on Instagram.

“I would like to thank everyone at Geelong for the 2 years there and everyone who has supported me throughout, but sadly it has come to an end today.

“Keen for the next journey!!!”

Originally from GDFL club Belmont Lions, Schlensog made his way to GFL club Grovedale, impressing enough at the Tigers to earn an invite to the Geelong Falcons.

He was selected as a Next Generation Academy rookie by the Cats in late 2018.

Schlensog made 13 VFL appearances and kicked eight goals in 2019, earning a second rookie season.

He joins retiring great Gary Ablett has the confirmed departures from GMHBA Stadium.
