Cats cautious with Nina

NINA Morrison’s return from a second knee reconstruction is “at least a few weeks away”, ruling her out of Geelong’s opening round AFLW clash with North Melbourne.

The midfield young gun suffered her most recent ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in what proved to the Cats’ final 2020 AFLW match on March 13 last year.

Morrison is likely to be the only player Paul Hood will be unable to consider when selecting his team for the opening round clash with the Kangaroos on January 31.

“We just go with what the medicos tell us, and she keeps working on her rehab as hard as she can, and as well as she can,” Hood said.

“She’s doing a great job with that, but we’re looking at something more mid-season (for a return).

Geelong suffered a 21-point loss in its practice match with Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.
