TALKS on a new contract for Geelong forward Bradley Close are underway.

Close, who has played 14 of a possible 17 matches in 2021 for a career total of 2021, is one of 17 Cats without a deal for next year.

“I’m currently unsigned, but we don’t have any issues at the moment,” he told K rock Football following Thursday night’s 69-point win over Fremantle at Optus Stadium.

“I love being at the Cats and want to keep it that way.

“(I’m) in negotiations still, and I’m sure that’ll be resolved when the time comes.”

After arriving at GMHBA Stadium from SANFL club Glenelg with pick No.14 in the 2020 Rookie Draft, Close has endeared himself to Geelong fans with his efficient use of the football and forward pressure.

“Having little-disposal games, (I’m) trying to make the most of each, and every touch that I get, I’m trying to be clean,” he said.

“(I’m) trying to hit the scoreboard as well, and I guess it all starts with pressure for us small forwards.”
