Young Swan tops count

TWO votes in the final round of the season has been enough for South Barwon’s Tamara Sferco to claims the AFL Barwon under-18 Division 2 best-and-fairest award.

Sferco, who finished with 16 votes led St Albans’ Analea McKee by two votes with one round remaining.

However, she found herself needing at least one vote from the final round clash against St Joseph’s after McKee was named best-on-ground in the Supersaints victory over Barwon Heads.

Sferco, who played with St Albans in 2018, was second-best in the eyes of the umpires, which was enough to take the award outright.

Newtown & Chilwell’s Emily Perrett, St Albans’ Holly Cammaroto, and Millie Johnson from St Mary’s finished tied for third on eight votes.

Sferco not only received the best-and-fairest but was recognised with the Spirit of Sport award, with South Barwon named the best club.

Supersaint Tayla Sanford received the goalkicking award with 29 majors for the season.
