At Selection – Round 2

GEELONG has been boosted by the inclusion of key forward Phoebe McWilliams and ruck Erin Hoare for Saturday night’s clash with reigning AFL Women’s premier Western Bulldogs.

Former GWS Giant McWilliams was a late withdrawal from last week’s win over Collingwood in the Cats’ AFLW debut, while ex-Demon Hoare hasn’t played since suffering a lisfranc injury in the final round of the VFLW season, which forced her to miss Geelong’s finals campaign.

However, captain Mel Hickey will have to wait at least another week to make her return from a knee reconstruction.

Maighan Fogas and Georgie Rankin, who was the late replacement for McWilliams, have both been dropped.

Hard-nosed midfielder Richelle Cranston couldn’t be considered for selection as she serves the final week of two-match suspension for an incident in the practice match win over Carlton.
