Portarlington (10th) vs. Torquay (1st)

Ron Evans Oval

Saturday, July 1, 2:10pm

AFTER flexing its muscle last week with a 129-point hiding of fellow contenders Ocean Grove, Torquay will tune-up for its highly-anticipated July 9 meeting with a trip to Portarlington. The Tigers forward trio of Scott Hughes, Billy Henderson and Paul McMahon now has 95 goals between it for the season, and that could grow exponentially if the Demons serve up the same effort as what they produced against Drysdale. However, McMahon will be missing for the trip to the tip of the Bellarine Peninsula. Portarlington was blown off the park by the Hawks, who sat just two places above them on the ladder, to the tune of 132 points. The Demons welcome back Nick Daniele, Cam Gourley and Tom Dewey, but playing coach Jesse Smith and Jacob Foot will be missing. The Tigers will make up to eight changes. McMahon is overseas, while the likes of coach Dom Gleeson, former Werribee teammate Sam Wormald and Ayden Sewell won’t line-up against the Demons. Veteran duo Roscoe Holmes and Ben Kennedy are among those named for Torquay.

Last time they met: Round 6, 2017: Torquay 13.24 (102) def. Portarlington 6.5 (41)

Prediction: Torquay by 87 points
