GEELONG Falcons Girls team will get a chance to shine under a bright spotlight after being allocated an AFLW curtain-raiser as part of its 2020 fixture.

The Falcons will take on the GWV Rebels ahead of Geelong’s final round meeting with Collingwood at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, March 28.

Former Western Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney has taken over as coach of the Falcons, with his first game in charge against the Gippsland Power on February 29.

The Falcons, who finished as beaten semi-finalists in 2019 after winning the premiership the previous year, will play nine home-and-away matches, with two of those at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus.

Meanwhile, the Falcons Boys will play their only match in Geelong to open their season on March 21.

It will also be their only match in the city they represent, with ‘home’ matches also scheduled for Colac’s Central Reserve, MARS Stadium in Ballarat and Werribee’s Avalon Airport Oval.

The Falcons will also travel to Tasmanian for a second-straight year when they meet the Devils in Launceston in July.
