GEELONG Falcons have suffered just their fourth loss in the four seasons of the NAB League Girls competition after being defeated by reigning premier Northern Knights by 25 points
The Falcons were always behind the eight-ball after conceding the first two goals of the match, as the Knights claimed a 5.8 (38) to 1.7 (13) victory at RMIT in University.
Ingrid Houtsma kicked the Falcons’ lone goal in the second quarter to cut a 16-point quarter time deficit to seven points at half time.
However, the Knights regained control of the contest with two third quarter goals, while holding the Falcons to just behind.
Carly Remmos and Annie Lee were named the Falcons’ best, while the prolific start to the season of Laura Gardiner (25 possessions) and captain Darcy Moloney (24) continued.
The Falcons will have a bye next week before hosting Bendigo Pioneers at Deakin University on Saturday, March 21 at 1:30pm.
