Change of tack for Turner

LONG-serving Geelong Falcons Talent Manager Michael Turner looks set to enter to the property market following his departure from the NAB League club.

Turner, who turns 66 in December, had hoped to find a consulting role in football when he stood down from the Falcons role.

However, COVID-19 has turned the industry on its head, leaving the Geelong great looking elsewhere to occupy his time in retirement.

“I always thought I’d keep working in football; maybe part-time recruiting or consultancy,” Turner said.

“But because of all the people losing their jobs within the AFL and at AFL club level, the market’s going to be flooded for that sort of stuff.

“If someone asked me to do something, I’d obviously do it.

“But, I’m probably going to change tack a fair bit. With (sons) Levi in real estate and Che a builder, I’m probably going to go into some building construction in Lorne – I think there’s a market there for that sort of stuff.

“I like building houses, and if you’ve got a son in real estate and son who’s a builder, you can do some projects as an owner-builder.
