The first clearance window ahead of the 2018 season has come and gone.

Here we take a look at some of the more notable names who will have – or are looking for – new homes next year that haven’t received the publicity of the likes of Billie Smedts and Tom Ruggles.

GFL club Bell Park looks set to farewell Mitch Elford and Justin Baxter, who have joined youngster Toby Manganelli in lodging a clearance to GDFL runner-up Inverleigh.

The Dragons will also lose Jack Rawlings, who will return to Ocean Grove.

Grovedale will have at least nine new faces in its Round 1 team in 2018 with Zac Smith and Lachie Whitehead the latest to depart.

Smith is joining Essendon and District club Glenroy, while Lachie Whitehead is keen to join fellow former Tigers Brad Surkitt and Adam Donohue at Geelong Amateur.

The Tigers have lodged two incoming clearances, including 2016 Bendigo Pioneers best-and-fairest Keelin Betson.

As well as adding Surkitt, Donohue and Daniel Lovick, Ammos will welcome back former junior Nick Nott.

Nott has spent time with St Albans, while also getting a crack at VFL level with North Ballarat.

Ammos’ arch-rivals Torquay will now be without at least four of its premiership stars in 2018.

The Tigers had already confirmed the move of Scott Hughes to Nhill and that James Darke and Dave Allitt will spend next season overseas.

They will also farewell Adam Sewell after two seasons. He is headed to Central Highlands’ club Newlyn.

However, talented St Joseph’s youngster Patrick Kelleher appears set to land at Spring Creek Reserve.

Kelleher, who played all 18 home-and-away games for the 2017 premier, was dropped for the finals.

Newtown & Chilwell defender Tim Horan is returning to Cobden, where he will link up with fellow former Eagle Paul Hinkley.

Newcomb has suffered a blow, with Will Krithararis (Deer Park) and Matt Walson (Hoppers Crossing) both lodging clearances.

Allan Martin will also depart for Hampden league club Hamilton Kangaroos.

Fellow BFL struggler Portarlington has farewell key forward Dylan Weir, who has joined former Demons coach Matthew Sproule at Riddell league club Melton Centrals.

GDFL club Thomson will welcome Daniel Freeman from Ocean Grove, while former Queenscliff co-coach Andrew Hodgson also appears headed for Godfrey Street.

North Geelong has seen talented youngster Tom Schwennesen head to GFL club Geelong West, while Grant Armistead is off to Western Eagles.
