WERRIBEE has seen enough from raw Lara ruckman Darcy Bennett over the pre-season to add him to the VFL club’s list for the 2019 season.

Bennett, who has played 21 senior games with the Cats, becomes the third big man from the GFL to sign with the Tigers, joining Leopold’s Jack Berry and St Mary’s Nick Nott.

“It’s been pretty massive for me, as I was pretty unfit, but I’ve really enjoyed the higher level of professionalism,” Bennett said.

“I’ve got a lot out of it so far and hopefully will continue to do so.”

The signing of Bennett has come at the same time as former GWV Rebels big Tylar Watts.

It’s been quite a turnaround,” Tigers football boss Stu Balloch said.

“We’ve come from a situation last year where we had Jack Berry shouldering the bulk of the ruck load after Nick Nott went down with injury early in the year.

“Now, as well as having Nick back, we’ve added a SANFL premiership ruckman to our ranks in Angus Clarke and have two exciting prospects in Darcy and Tylar, so we’re looking forward to developing those guys coming into the program and really building our ruck depth.”

Werribee has now signed 40 players for 2019 ahead of its Round 1 meeting with North Melbourne on April 6.
