Unlucky Lech?

BIG man Lech Featherstone appears unlikely to win back his spot in the St Joseph’s team for Saturday’s GFL Grand Final meeting with St Mary’s.

Featherstone, who was a member of last year’s premiership team and was selected in the 2017 GFL Team of the Year on the back of a second-place finish in Mathieson Medal, was left out of Joeys’ preliminary final win over Leopold  to make away for the return of Callum Mitchell.

“Unfortunately you just can’t make good decisions all your life, you’ve got to make the tough ones as well,” Jamieson told K rock’s The Wash-Up.

“We’ve got to make sure we’re not afraid of making those decisions for the betterment of the team.

“On Saturday, I thought we were probably better placed without Lech in the side.

“That may change this week, who knows?

“We’ll sit down and have a look in our match committee and see what the best side is to take on St Mary’s.”

Meanwhile, Jamieson has left the door open for former captain Kieran Paliouras to play if he can overcome a hamstring injury suffered against the Saints in the qualifying final.

“He will need to prove to us he will be right to stand up for a grand final,” Jamieson said.

“We’re unsure how that’ll look at this stage for our side.

“But, we’ll be making the decision we need to make as a football club to ensure that 22 fit players play for St Joseph’s on the weekend and give us an opportunity to win what we want to win.”
