GROVEDALE coach Daniel Fraser hopes Sunday’s win over Lara will provide his club with a platform to build off.

The Tigers overcame the Cats by 29 points to ensure it would avoid going winless heading into a crucial clash with St Joseph’s this weekend.

“It gives us a bit of momentum and gets four points on the board,” Fraser told K rock Football.

“It gets a little bit of confidence around the group and gives us something to build on.”

GFL: JOEYS MAINTAIN HOLD OVER SOUTH

Fraser admits if Lara spearhead Mitch Day had kicked straight, Grovedale might have left Bisinella Oval empty-handed.

The veteran finished with 3.12 from the Cats’ final score of 9.19.

“Mitch Day had a pretty solid night, so I’m glad he didn’t have his kicking shoes on,” Fraser admitted.

“He was very strong up forward … if he kicked straight, it could have possibly changed in the game.”

Earlier in the day, Jordan Erskine kicked 6.9 in the Tigers’ reserve grade win over Lara in his first match since returning to the club from Anglesea.

However, Fraser wasn’t committing to the 33-year-old being part of the senior team to take on Joeys.

“Jordan’s had a good day in the reserves … we’ll see how he pulls up,” Fraser said.

“He’ll certainly be in the mix. But, whether we play him or not, we’ll wait until later in the week.”
