HE is enjoying not doing an AFL pre-season for the first time in 12 years, but former North Melbourne star Scott Thompson hasn’t ruled out lacing up the boots with South Barwon in 2020.

The 33-year-old played two premierships with the Swans before being drafted by the Roos after featuring in Geelong’s VFL flag in 2007.

He went on 241 matches in the royal blue and white, winning the best-and-fairest and earning All-Australian selection in 2013.

“I still haven’t made my mind up about that,” Thompson, who has joined Geelong’s AFLW coaching staff, said.

“If I was to play footy, I’d be playing with them, I would say.

“I’m still seeing how that will go and see if I have the motivation to pull on the boots again.

“Once the pre-season is finished, I’ll reassess.”

If Thompson doesn’t play, he is likely to take on another role at McDonald Reserve.

“I’ll be down there helping them out even if I’m not playing,” he said.

“But I don’t know what to do if I get my weekends back.”
