VERSATILE Geelong West big man Jye Bohm will miss the rest of the season with a torn pectoral muscle suffered in the GFL’s AFL Victoria Community Championships loss to Eastern.

Giants coach Greg Mellor has confirmed Bohm, who was a late inclusion to the GFL side, will undergo surgery next week.

“I’m just really disappointed for him,” Mellor said.

“He’s been having a great year, being selected in the interleague team was a great reward for his efforts, and then to get injured is disappointing for him and disappointing for us.”

Mellor is confident the popular Bohm will make a full recovery and be right for 2019.

“He’s pretty disciplined and professional, and he’ll do the necessary rehab and be back ready to go next year,” Mellor said.

“In the meantime, he’ll be helping out in an off-field role. He’s a very strong leader and we’re lucky to have him someone of his calibre at our footy club.”

Meanwhile, the Giants’ North Melbourne VFL listed forward Brandon Ryan has been forced out of today’s AFL Victoria Young Guns game at Port Melbourne.

West, who take on Grovedale this afternoon, is hopeful he will be right for next week’s clash with North Shore at Windsor Park.
