ST MARY’S fans hoping to see Scott Selwood in the blue and green of the GFL reigning premier may not necessarily get their wish in 2020.

The former Geelong and West Coast midfielder has taken a development coaching role at Collingwood, which will include playing VFL with the Magpies.

Selwood has nominated the Saints as his interchange club, but he says he hasn’t given too much thought to playing at local level this year.

“My first priority is coaching at the Pies and making sure that’s going well, and I’m developing there,” he said.

“Then my next priority is playing VFL Pies.”

Selwood returned to GMHBA Stadium on Thursday afternoon for the first time since being delisted at the end of last year as Geelong and Collingwood undertook match simulation together.

The 29-year-old says he hasn’t looked at the GFL fixture to see if he could make a cameo appearance.

“It’s got to be pretty flexible, I think, in terms of that sort of stuff,” Selwood said.

“I’m enjoying my role at the Pies and the coaching side, and I just want to make sure I can become the best coach I can be.”
