St Joseph’s vs. St Albans @ Drew Oval – Saturday, 2:10pm

North Shore vs. Bell Park @ Windsor Park – Saturday, 2:10pm

MATCH OF THE ROUND

Newtown & Chilwell will get a clearer indication of the path it is on when it hosts Colac at Elderslie Reserve. The Eagles, who have started GFL season 4-0 for the first time in the competition’s 41-season history, have – as expected – taken care of Lara, Geelong West and North Shore in the opening month of the season, while also putting away St Mary’s. The Tigers will be keen to bounce back quickly after being unable to overrun the Saints at Central Reserve last week. They’ll be without Kody Spokes (broken nose) and Tom Simpkin (knee/wrist).

BOOST FOR SEAGULLS

North Shore will be boosted by the return of former Port Adelaide and Richmond forward Jay Schulz and Essendon VFL listed midfielder Nick Dixon. Both missed last week’s loss to Newtown & Chilwell, with Schulz pulling up sore from his Seagull debut against Geelong West in Round 3. While Dixon has recovered from a bout of the flu.

STAR LION SIDELINED

Leopold could be without 2016 premiership player Kevin Bourke for up to six weeks with a groin injury suffered in last week’s win over Grovedale. Meanwhile, star defender Tom Gordon is set to undergo an arthroscope on a knee injury. The Lions hope he misses no more than six weeks.

SHERINGHAM SIDELINED

Bell Park co-coach Tim Sheringham is set to miss the clash with North Shore at Windsor Park with a hamstring issue, while Aaron Hutchison (back) and James Rock (soreness) will also be missing. However, the Dragons will welcome back Werribee listed duo Aiden Domic, who played in last week’s AFL Victoria Young Guns game, and Keegan Gray, as well as Cooper Jones (toe) and Ben Lloyd (ankle).

TIGERS TO DEBUT THREE

Grovedale will unveil three debutants in its must-win clash with Geelong West at Burdoo Reserve. Key defender Charlie Ried, small forward Mitch Swan and the versatile Andrew Schnerring will play their first senior games for the Tigers, while Harry Spicer has been elevated from the under-18s. However, recruit Hudson Garoni, who is Grovedale’s leading goalkicker with 13 majors, will be rested on the advice of VFL club Werribee.

MILESTONE (1)

Dean Felekos will play his 200th game for Colac in the meeting with Newtown & Chilwell at Elderslie Reserve. The GFL’s Rookie of the Year in 2008, Felekos, who has been a consistent poller of Mathieson Medal votes, was a key component of the Tigers’ lone GFL premiership victory in 2014.

MILESTONE (2)

Lara co-captain Matt Spence has come overcome more adversity than most to reach 100 GFL senior games. The affable Spencer spent 13 months on the sideline after suffering a horrific lower leg injury in a game against Geelong West in June 2016 that threatened to end his career.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT.

Geelong West young gun Joel Bennett put up a contender for the GFL’s Goal of the Year with this effort in the Giants’ narrow loss to South Barwon.
