GLENN Keast and Travis Robertson will share more than just the senior coaching role at St Mary’s in 2021.

Following a whole club coaching restructure, the 2019 premiership-winning duo will also take charge of the Saints’ reserves next year.

“Being joint coaches, Robbo and I share the responsibilities of coaching the senior group, and the way we do it (is) we split on three-week blocks,” Keast said.

“And when we’re off, we’re not going to be off anymore – we’re going to be coaching our seconds’ side or our development group on a Saturday.

“We think that’s going to be really positive for our playing group to be getting feedback first-hand from either one of the senior coaches on a match-day.

“We’ve announced that to the club and the playing group, and it’s been good feedback so far.”

As part of the restructure, former Bell Park, Torquay and Winchelsea coach Luke Rayner has been appointed as the club’s Youth Junior Development coach.

“Luke will support both of us on match-day with our seconds program, but also during the week, particularly on Monday night’s, taking our 17-22-year-olds for an extra session.

“Depending on what time of the year (it is), that might vary slightly.

“Getting access to that group and really working with them closely through the year, and watching them and supporting them through the year.

“And getting in their ear if they’re down or haven’t had a great game, or giving them feedback on how they’re going.”

Former St Mary’s star Cam Loftus, who has been heavily involved with the Geelong Falcons at under-16 level in recent years, will take care of the club’s junior development program.

“His role will be to try to coach the coaches in our senior game plan,” Keast said.

“He’ll have a role in our senior group, particularly through pre-season.

“And then (he’ll) spend time with our junior coaches, making sure our (under) 19s, 17s, and grades underneath that are all taking aspect of our gameplan and trying to coach them in the same way that we do.”
