GFL premiership favourite Colac has re-signed coach Rowan McSparron for the 2022 season.

The Tigers have confirmed the highly-regarded McSparron will have a third season in charge next year after putting pen to paper on a new deal.

“We’re really pleased. It was a pretty easy conversation,” Colac president Matt Gibson said.

“Rowan’s really committed and keen to continue on the success he’s developed so far.

“He’s just a good person, first and foremost. He takes an interest in all facets of the club, and he builds really good relationships with not just the players but everyone inside the club.

“He epitomises everything we’re looking for in a coach.”

Gibson says the commitment from McSparron allows the Tigers to start planning for 2022 with a level of certainty.

“One of the beauties with Rowan is he always puts everyone else before himself,” Gibson said.

“He knew that if he committed, that sort of stuff could start to take place.

“There’s been a really positive response, not just from the players but the whole club from the announcement he’s going to go around again.”
