Pride Game to standalone

THE date for the annual Pride Game between Leopold and Newtown & Chilwell is on the move again.

The Lions and Eagles have agreed to swap the date to allow the clash to be played as the only GFL match on the mid-season bye weekend.

The two clubs had planned to hold the Pride Cup clash on April 18, but with Geelong’s AFL clash with North Melbourne scheduled for that day, they’ve agreed to move the marquee match-up to the weekend of July 3-4.

Leopold and Newtown & Chilwell were due to meet on July 10 at Memorial Park.

The final date will be determined when the AFL confirm the day of the Cats meeting with Essendon to be played that weekend.

There has also been a change to the Round 12 meeting between Geelong West and Lara.

The Giants and Cats will now meet at night on July 10 following a GDFL clash involving West’s GDFL team and the Belmont Lions.

It will be the first GFL night match at the venue since its $11m redevelopment.
