FOUR local products have been named in the Northern Territory teams’ match-ups against SANFL club Glenelg in Darwin on Saturday night.

Grovedale’s James Tsitas, Newtown & Chilwell’s Dane McFarlane and Jay Dahlhaus from St Mary’s have all been selected in the men’s side.

While former Geelong Falcon Eliza Shannon, who played at both the Newtown & Chilwell and Geelong Amateur as a junior, will feature in the women’s team.

It is the first time the Territory senior men’s team has taken to the field since 2006, while Shannon will be part of the NTFL’s first-ever women’s representative team.

Tsitas, who played in a SANFL premiership with Woodville-West Torrens last year, and will remain at the Eagles in 2021, has been named in the centre.

McFarlane, who started his football journey at Modewarre, and has most recently played with VFL club Werribee, will start on a wing.

The speedster, who played with finals-rbound Wanderers in Darwin, says it NTFL selection is one of the highlights of his career.

“It means a lot,” he said. “We had a few past players come and talk to us that played NT rep games, and they said what an honour it is to wear the Guernsey.

“The last four months I’ve been up here, I’ve really got involved with the culture, and trying to learn a lot about the NT and Darwin.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling to be selected.”

Dahlhaus, the son of Newcomb great Steve and cousin of Geelong forward Luke, plays alongside Tsitas at Southern Districts.

In his first year in the competition, the small forward also received the NTFL’s Rising Star nomination for Round 7.

He has been named in a forward pocket.

“He’s been playing really well,” McFarlane said. “I’ve seen him play a handful of times, and every time we’ve played against him he’s popped up and kicked two or three (goals).

“And I’m really looking forward to play with my mate Tsitas. I’ve played against him ten times, and he’s always lipping me and getting stuck into me on the ground.

“So, it will be good to play with him this time and hopefully get a win.”

Shannon, a former Geelong VFL listed player who is playing with the Darwin Buffettes, will line-up at full-back.
