Lara locks in Rock

LARA has confirmed Shayne Stone will coach the club in 2021.

Stone shared the role with Tony Armstrong in 2019 after returning from a stint as an assistant with VFL club Werribee.

He was due to go it alone in 2020, with expanding media commitments forcing Armstrong to step down.

“He’s been so first-class in everything he’s done with planning and communication,” Cats president Shane Bennett said.

“He’s the right guy for this group, 100 per cent.”

BFL: GROVE LOOKS LIGHT UP LOCAL FOOTY

GFL rival St Joseph’s has opened discussions with out-of-contract coach Paul Carson about next year.

“We have spoken with him, and our committee will meet over the next few days,” president Todd Devine said.

“We’ve got two strategies. One is that we’ve got to work out what the balance of this year looks like.

“If it doesn’t look like much is going to happen, then it gives us a chance to knuckle down now and get ourselves set-up for next year.

“And having a chat with Paul is certainly one of those chats.”
