Joeys unveil upgrade images

GFL club St Joseph’s has unveiled images of what the finished product of a multi-million dollar upgrade of its Herne Hill Reserve base will look like.

To be shared with Geelong Cricket Association club St Peter’s, it will replace two ageing buildings – including the A.L. Russell Pavilion – fronting Drew and Walker ovals.

The new facility will feature elevated viewing from the social rooms and six gender-neutral change rooms to cater for the boom in female participation in both football and cricket.

It is likely to mean Joeys will no longer use the scout hall as change rooms.

In a post to social media, vice-president Rob Threlfall says demolition will start as soon as possible.

St Joseph’s is one of a number of clubs about to have or having improvements undertaken.

St Mary’s, St Albans, Geelong West and North Geelong among the others with projects on the go.
