Grovedale elevates assistant

New Grovedale coach Daniel Fraser (middle) with co-president Simon Hose and football manager Paul Whyte.

GROVEDALE has elevated assistant coach Daniel Fraser to the top job for the next two years.

Fraser, whose extensive coaching career included three years as coach of Werribee’s team in the former VFL development competition, will replace Simon Riddoch.

Grovedale last month Riddoch would not continue for a third season in charge at Burdoo Reserve.

“He (Fraser) has over 20 years of coaching experience at various levels and this season has built a strong rapport with current players and club officials,” a statement from the Tigers in the appointment said.

“The announcement was made to a large group of senior and junior players and committee members who gathered at the club for the announcement.

“Daniel has a great track record of success and we are looking forward to the next few years of rapid improvement.”

The Tigers, who last played finals in 2016, currently sit eighth on the ladder with five wins ahead of matches against St Mary’s and Colac to round out the season.
