GEELONG West has welcomed GDFL Team of the Year fullback Daniel Banister among several key signings.

Banister, who the Giants were keen on adding before the 2019 season, took out the Belmont Lions’ best-and-fairest this year.

He’s been joined by fellow former Lion Brodie Edge.

The ruckman, who captained Belmont Lions in two separate stints, is an elite athlete having taken time away from football to participate in triathlons.

Geelong West has also welcomed Werribee listed big man Tylar Watts and Avondale Heights star Caleb McPherson.

The 199cm Watts played three VFL games in 2019 and will have the Giants as his interchange club next year.

He played TAC Cup with the GWV Rebels across 2017-18 and kicked 18 goals from 14 games for Portland this year.

McPherson is described as a hard-nosed onballer who also played with Western Region clubs Albion and Deer Park.

Ethan Liddle will return to the club after featuring in seven matches at NEAFL level for the NT Thunder in 2019.

Off-field, West has welcomed Rick Wilde back to the club as an assistant coach.

Wilde, who won two Mathieson Medals playing with Leopold, and also lined-up with Newtown & Chilwell, was part of the Giants most recent senior finals team in 2008 when known as Geelong West-St Peter’s.

Meanwhile, Lara’s productive off-season is continuing with the addition of Casey Young from Ballarat league club Darley.

Originally from Tasmania, the 193cm mobile forward made his State League senior debut as a 16-year-old with South Launceston in 2013.
