BELL Park is now preparing for another virtual elimination final after beating Newtown & Chilwell by 51 points to keep its hopes of a fourth consecutive September appearance alive.

The sixth-placed Dragons will face South Barwon, which sits on the same win-loss record but more than 30 per cent clear in fifth spot.

“The message to the boys was “enjoy the win, but quickly move on, recover well, rehab well, let’s get ourselves on the training track ready to go again”, co-coach Luke Rayner told K rock’s The Wash-Up.

“South Barwon have had a terrific season and are in a good position, similar to us.

“We’re both vying for that final spot, so for us to stay alive we need to win and, I guess, probably similar, potentially, for South as well.

“It’s exciting. It’s good that there’s still live spots up for grabs and some important games coming up over the next couple of weeks.”
