BELL Park may lay claim in 2020 to having one of the best ruck combinations after signing former Murray Bushrangers big man Will Christie.

The 19-year-0ld from Ovens and Murray club Wangaratta Rovers has signed with Geelong’s VFL team and will have the Dragons as his interchange club.

The 201cm Christie joins former Western Bulldogs listed big man Luke Goetz in arriving at Hamlyn Park in the off-season.

“I’ve nominated Bell Park, which was a long process obviously not knowing anyone down there,” Christie told the Border Mail

“But for my football, playing locally down there was the best fit with VFL commitments as great as it would have been travelling back to Rovers,” Christie told the Border Mail.

“I don’t have too many expectations,” Christie said.

“Playing a few VFL games would definitely be nice, however, with the talls Geelong has on its AFL list a lot of them will drop back into the VFL 22.

“So I want to apply myself at local level and contribute each week and start from there.”

MEANWHILE, former St Mary’s player Flinn Chisholm has become BFL club Drysdale’s latest off-season acquisition.

A doctor, Chisholm has joined the Hawks after securing work at a medical practice in the town.

In an added boost for Drysdale, he will arrive as a one-pointer, having not played at any level in the last three years.

A Geelong Amateur junior, Chisholm played with the Geelong Falcons and spent time with VFL club Werribee.

He most recently played with Palm Beach-Currumbin on the Gold Coast.
