THOMSON has been boosted by the return of a quartet of stars for the blockbuster clash with Werribee Centrals at Galvin Park.

Matt Baden, Josh Westwood, Jackson Macleod and Matt Egan all missed last week’s big win over Corio, and coach Reece Holwell says their return is timely.

It’s the second meeting between the two clubs in 2019, with the reigning premier coming out 46 points in front in Round 2.

“We’ve got a really big challenge ahead of us this week,” Holwell said. “Werribee is definitely the in-form team in the competition as we speak.

“They’ve got some new players on board, and they got some recruits early in the year, so at Round 2 they wouldn’t have jelled together and understood the game plan that Nick (Smith) was trying to get across.

“Now it seems they’re in a lot better position than what they were back then.”

The Tigers held the Devils scoreless last week, but Holwell says despite the margin they won’t have any issues being switched on for the Centurions.

“We’ve got enough experienced guys in our group to know how important each week is,” Holwell said.

“We still got a fair bit out of last week’s win, and as soon as last week finished, our focus was straight onto Werribee this week.”
