Veteran Magpie’s bad break

NORTH Geelong coach Ayden George remains hopeful of seeing Daniel Kee again in 2019 despite the veteran midfielder suffering a broken leg early in Saturday’s win over Belmont Lions.

The former Magpies mentor was forced from the ground early in the first quarter of the clash at Keith Barclay Oval after being tackled in the middle of Keith Barclay Oval.

“He’s rebroken the leg that he broke last year,” George confirmed on K rock’s The Wash-Up.

“It was definitely pretty deflating for the group for 5-10 minutes knowing what Keysy’s had to go through to get himself back and in a position to front up and play football again.

“I think there was probably periods of time last year where people around the club were concerned he may not front up again.

“But, to his credit, he’s done a hell of a lot of work away from the footy club to get himself back, and, unfortunately, a game and five minutes (into the season), we’re probably going to lose him for a fair whack of the year.”
