MATCH OF THE ROUND

Can’t look past the clash between the competition’s only two unbeaten teams. Thomson has swept all before it in an impressive start to its premiership defence, while Winchelsea’s only blemish is the Round 5 draw with Geelong West. The Tigers will welcome back star forward Jackson Macleod, while Will Ford is back after serving a one-week suspension arising from the Giants clash. The winner will have premiership favouritism.

EDWARDS ON THE BIG STAGE

Eagle-eyed local football fans would have recognised a familiar face leading the war cry ahead of the Dreamtime at the ‘G AFL clash between Richmond and Essendon. Belmont Lion Jordy Edwards was front-and-square alongside Tiger Sidney Stack in the pre-game ceremony.

ETTRIDGE LODGES CLEARANCE TO ANAKIE

Anakie has lodged a clearance for former junior Bailey Ettridge to join the club. Ettridge, who was keen to cross from North Shore to GFL rival Lara, had that appeal knocked back in early May. If the Seagulls were to change their stance and agree to release Ettridge, he would be a massive boost for the Roos, who sit ninth with just one win after six rounds. Ettridge also played enough junior games with Anake to return as a one-pointer.
