MATCH OF THE ROUND

The minor premiership will be decided when Inverleigh hosts Thomson. The Hawks will start favourite after seeing off the Tigers by 45 points at Godfrey Street in Round 6. However, Thomson is riding a 10-game winning streak into the clash and loom as the most likely challenger to Inverleigh for this year’s title.

CRUCIAL DAY FOR

Werribee Centrals and Winchelsea. It’s simple for the Centurions and Blue who do battle at Galvin Park, with the winner to sit inside the top five with one round remaining. Centrals then face a trip to Bannockburn in the final round, while Winch hosts Belmont Lions.

THE MATCH-UP

James Huybens (Inverleigh) vs. Matt Baden (Thomson). The Inverleigh star and the Thomson recruit face-off in an important ruck battle. Both will be keen to give their quality midfields first use of the Sherrin.

THE CHANGE

Zac Anthony and Nic Bauld loom as key additions for Werribee Centrals ahead of its clash with Winchelsea. Anthony will slot into a key defensive post and take either Will Ford or David Tucker, while Bauld will add some firepower to the Centurions’ forward line.

THE NUMBER

250. Congratulations to Bell Post Hill great Shane Lymer on 250 games. Unfortunately match records aren’t an exact science prior to 2009, but we’d be confident in saying more than 200 of those have been wins.

THE QUOTE

“After 250 games it takes its toll, and I think my wife is quietly hoping that this might be it.”  Bell Post Hill milestone man Shane Lymer on whether he is considering retirement at the end of 2018.
