MATCH OF THE ROUND

Just when we thought the shock loss to Anakie in Round 12 had put East Geelong’s finals hopes on life support, it bounced back up in bed with a crucial win over Winchelsea last week to sit just two points behind the fifth-placed Blues. However, the Eagles now face finals-bound Bannockburn, which will welcome back Jason Tom from the first suspension of his career and B.J. Harding. East Geelong hasn’t beaten Bannockburn in eight meetings since Round 7, 2014. The Eagles last win at Victoria Park came the previous year.

TON UP FOR TYQUIN

Matt Tyquin will play his 100th game for Bannockburn when it hosts East Geelong at Victora Park. Tyquin, who spent 2015 with GFL club Bell Park, has been a regular GDFL representative. He won the Tigers’ best-and-fairest in 2016.

DON’T DREAD THE LOCKS

Anthony Kilsby is one of local football’s distinguishable players with his lengthy dreadlocks, and ahead of his 400th open-age game, the 38-year-old said they’re not going anywhere in a hurry, as long as the Minister for Entertainment and Finance is happy. “She’s not too bad about them, but she think they’re getting a bit too long now,” Kilsby said. “They trim themselves – bit and pieces break off here and there. I feel like it keeps me young. I don’t know what I’d do if I cut my hair. I haven’t had a haircut since Year 8 at school.”
