INVERLEIGH recruit Josh Bouwman is unlikely to be sighted until after the interleague break as he continues to battle Achilles tendinitis.

The former Modewarre, Anglesea and East Geelong sharpshooter’s only appearance for the Hawks was a practice match in early March.

Coach Adam Donohue says they’ll be patient with Bouwman.

“With something like an Achilles, you definitely don’t rush them back,” he said.

The unbeaten Hawks face arch-rival Bannockburn in Thursday’s Anzac Day clash, where they hope to welcome back Dan and Mick Grozdanovski.

Dan was unavailable Round 2 after featuring in the opening round victory over Geelong West, while Mick is yet to appear in 2019 as he battled a knee issue.

Donohue is looking forward to playing in an Anzac Day clash for the first time in his local career.

“I reckon it’s going to be one of the bigger games I’ve participated in,” he said. “The guys are telling me you get 4000-5000 there.

“With only three games on in the region, I’m sure we’ll get most of the GDFL coming out for a look.

“And the rivalry is pretty good between Inverleigh and Bannockburn, so from the first bounce on it will be red-hot.

“I’m really looking forward to the contest.”
