CORIO footballer Dylan Taylor is facing three criminal charges over an alleged on-field incident that left a Newcomb opponent with a broken jaw and led to a practise match at Shell Oval on Saturday being called off during the third quarter.

The 24-year-old was interviewed by Geelong detectives on Monday afternoon and charged with one count each of recklessly causing serious injury, intentionally causing injury and recklessly causing injury.

He was bailed and will face Geelong Magistrates Court on May 30.

Newcomb ruckman Tom Barber underwent surgery on Saturday night after suffering two breaks to his jaw..

Taylor was also reported by an umpire and had a charge of intentionally striking referred directly to the AFL Barwon Tribunal.
