Broken collarbone for Tiger Tyquin

BANNOCKBURN has suffered a blow less than a fortnight out from its opening round clash with Thomson after Matt Tyquin suffered a broken collarbone in Saturday’s practice match against Melton Centrals.
Co-coach Peter Riccardi says the reigning best and fairest, who only came on to the ground after half time as he continues recovering from osteitis pubis, is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.
“It was just an innocuous bump,” he said of the third quarter incident.
“Best case is six weeks. We’ve got two weeks before Round 1 and we have the (Easter) bye, so if he misses three games it will be a positive.
“But we’ll err on the side of caution.”
Riccardi says despite his limited pre-season, Tyquin had been in good touch up until his injury.
“He would have racked up 10 possessions during that third quarter,” Riccardi said.
