KANE Tenace will get the chance to build on an impressive first season in charge of Geelong Amateur after being reappointed as senior coach for 2021.

The former Geelong speedster was due to lead Ammos for the second year of his two-year contract this year before the season was cancelled as a result of COVID-19.

Amateur was BFL minor premier in 2019 before being knocked by Torquay in the preliminary final.

Tenace said planning for 2021 would begin almost immediately, starting with their list.

“We were very, very happy with where our listed ended up this year, so it’s about trying to make sure we keep that group together,” he said.

“We’ve got a lot of good young talent that came a long way last year, and it’s about getting those guys together, plus the new guys we got in.

“But, I’m not too sure how many of those guys will want to be talking about next right at this point in time.”

While Geelong Amateur has an eye on 2021, it hasn’t ruled out being part of any modified concept AFL Barwon puts forward.

“We’ve told AFL Barwon we’re interested in seeing what it looks like,” Tenace said.

“We’ve got a lot of kids who we think will want to play, if they get the chance.

“But we just want to see what it’s going to be all about and make a decision from there.

“We’ll put it to the playing group. If we can get a list of blokes together who want to have a run-around, we’re more than happy to be involved.”
