ANGLESEA has looked internally for its replacement for departed senior coach Paul Carson, with assistant coach Paul Nigro confirmed in the role for 2019.

Nigro, who has previously coached GDFL club Belmont Lions and was in a shared role at GFL side St Albans in 2017, was unveiled to the playing group at Alcoa Oval on Monday night.

“He was with us last year … we didn’t want to have a major change,” president Pete Gowans told krockfootball.com.au.

“We didn’t want to have any major distractions with having someone coming in with new gameplans, and I think the players appreciated that we got into it fairly quickly.

“They know what’s going on now and we can get into pre-season and mapping out where we got with recruiting and all that.”

Star forward Jordan Erskine and talented midfielder Ryan Williams will take on assistant coaching roles, with Andrew Bews continuing his role on the bench.

Carson, who took the Roos to the preliminary final in his second season in charge, was unveiled as coach of GFL reigning premier St Joseph’s last week.
