ANGLESEA have re-appointed coach Paul Carson for 2018.

The former Werribee Centrals, Geelong West-St Peter’s, St Joseph’s and Inverleigh star signed a one-year deal with the Roos late last year after retiring from playing.

President Pete Gowans confirmed the 2008 Mathieson medallist will stay on in the top job at Alcoa Oval.

“We’ve offered Paul another contract for 2018, with the option of 2019, which he’s accepted,” Gowans told krockfootball.com.au.

“We’re very happy going forward with Paul.”

Anglesea made consecutive finals appearances under Jason Armistead, however a top-five finish in 2017 appears unlikely, with the club sitting 12 points adrift of fifth-placed Modewarre.

“The club’s really been devastated with injuries,” Gowans said.

“Paul’s been coaching under quite a bit of duress … but we’ve been putting teams out on the field that have been competitive.

“He perceives that all going well next year and a good run of no injuries, it’s looking fairly exciting.

“We’ll be sitting down with the group that we have and finalising (our list) for next year, as well.”
