REIGNING BFL premier Barwon Heads will have access to Teia Miles when he’s not required at VFL level in 2020 after the former Hawthorn midfielder signed with his junior club.

Miles, who has joined Geelong’s VFL team in the hopes of finding his way back onto an AFL list, played 12 games in five seasons with the Hawks after being drafted in 2014.

However, after eight of those matches came in the second half of 2018, the 23-year-old was unable to find a spot in Alastair Clarkson’s team this year.

“It is very exciting for Barwon Heads to have Teia aligned with his junior club in 2020,” football boss Brendan Curry said.

“Obviously Teia’s number one goal is to have a great season at Geelong in the VFL, and we support that 100 per cent and hope that he can reignite his AFL career.

“Barwon Heads is committed to having former players return to the fold, and it is terrific that Teia always wanted to link up with the Heads again.

“He has very close mates currently playing at Barwon Heads, and if the opportunity arises that he is available to play with us in 2020, he knows that he will be in a very supportive environment.”

Miles has close ties to Geelong.

He is the brother-in-law of star Cat Mitch Duncan, while his dad Geoff played AFL with Geelong in 1992, including the grand final loss to West Coast, after stints at Collingwood and the Eagles.

Miles last played with the Seagulls in 2013, making his lone senior appearance in the final round loss to Drysdale, before spending the following season with the Geelong Falcons.
