THE Bellarine and GDFL grand finals look set to be played on the same day with AFL Barwon scheduling the BFL decider on Saturday, September 12

The GDFL also has its marquee day set down for the same date after agreeing to play on a Sunday this year after fixturing initially had both deciders earmarked for September 14.

The last time the grand finals clashed was 2014.

The Bellarine season will open on Saturday, April 4.

Barwon Heads will start its quest for consecutive premierships with a trip to Portarlington, Geelong Amateur hosts fellow 2019 finalist Anglesea, and Queenscliff and Drysdale start the year against each other for the third consecutive time.

Ocean Grove and Newcomb will again meet in a twilight clash at Ray Menzies Oval, while Good Friday combatants of last two years, Torquay and Modewarre, will also do battle under lights.

That leaves the Christian Holy Day to just Portarlington and Newcomb to open Round 2 on April 11.

Just one Sunday match has been fixtured for the year, with Newcomb and Ocean Grove to meet on Sunday, June 14.

Every club will play on ANZAC Day, with the traditional rivalry between Drysdale and Portarlington to continue.

May 16 has been set aside as a bye round, leaving the door open for the BFL to play interleague.

July 4 is also set aside for the mid-season bye, with Modewarre and Torquay choosing to play a standalone fixture at Community Bank Oval.

AFL Barwon is hoping to release the GFL fixture within a week.
